Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data ShortMovies (“we”) collects when you use ShortMovies on shortmovies.io and in our iPhone and Android apps, and how we use it.
1. Data we collect
- Account: your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google.
- Activity: series you saved, episodes you watched or unlocked, watch progress, coin balance and history, VIP status, check-ins.
- Purchases: what you bought, when, the price and the order number. Card and payment details are handled by Paddle, Apple or Google; we never see or store your full card number.
- Technical: device type, app version, approximate country, and basic logs needed to keep the Service secure and working.
- Ads: on the free plan, Google AdSense (web) and Google AdMob (apps) may use cookies or advertising IDs to show and measure ads.
2. Why we use it
- To create your account, sign you in and keep your list, coins and VIP in sync across devices (contract).
- To process purchases and prevent fraud (contract and legal obligation).
- To show ads on the free plan and limit how many you see (consent where the law requires it, otherwise legitimate interest).
- To fix problems and improve the Service (legitimate interest).
- To send you sign-in codes and important account messages. We send marketing emails only if you agree.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We use these providers to run the Service:
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage, EU region)
- Bunny.net (video streaming)
- Paddle (web payments, as Merchant of Record)
- Apple, Google, RevenueCat (in-app purchases)
- Google AdSense / AdMob (ads on the free plan)
- Hostinger (website hosting and email)
Some providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens we rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. When you delete your account we delete your profile and activity within 30 days, except purchase records we must keep for tax and accounting law.
5. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to some uses of it. You can delete your account yourself in Account settings, or email us. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Children
ShortMovies is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Cookies
We use storage in your browser to keep you signed in. Ad partners may set cookies on the free plan. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you on the Service or by email.
